The main tradeoff

Its system weight is not carried weight; Walnut supplies Wide Upholstery rather than the other documented Pet Multi-Tool kit.

Shark PowerDetect Speed IA3241 review: a compact cleaning path with a bigger end-of-job change

The IA3241 Speed Clean & Empty package brings a blue Reveal light and automatic waste transfer to Shark's narrower PowerDetect Speed cleaning format. That combination is useful for someone who wants to see hard-floor dust while keeping one mixed-floor nozzle attached, then return the machine to a station that empties and charges it. Choose it by examining the station location and cleaning path together. The published system weight alone cannot tell you how it will feel in your hand.

Where the light is useful

Shark describes a blue LED light that reveals dust on hard floors. It can be helpful along a kitchen edge or across a hallway where normal overhead lighting hides fine particles. The light is a visibility aid, not a cleanliness measurement or a health assessment. It also should not encourage excessive repeated passes over a delicate surface. Use an appropriate setting and follow the floor maker's care guidance.

The mixed-floor head has a published 8.3-inch cleaning path. Unlike a Dyson two-head route, you do not need to exchange an optical soft roller for a separate carpet head just to continue across a suitable rug. That can simplify a furnished room with small patches of different flooring. It does not prove that the narrower path will finish a broad open room faster than a larger nozzle.

Three detection functions and a bending wand

The Speed family detects dirt, floor type and cleaning direction. The larger PowerDetect family's additional edge detection is a separate feature. If you want that particular function as well as blue Reveal lighting, establish a concrete current Reveal model and package rather than assuming IA3241 has four detection systems. Ordinary edge cleaning still requires steering, observation and sometimes a small attachment.

MultiFlex bends the wand for under-furniture reach. Measure your furniture route and inspect what blocks it: the joint cannot shrink the head or remove a low crossbar. The hand unit detaches for suitable above-floor work, with a listed 3.5-pound hand-vacuum weight. Assess that working position separately from using the floor nozzle, especially for shelves and stairs.

The dock needs a practical home

The supplied base empties the onboard cup and charges the vacuum when returned. Pick a location that provides outlet access and enough room to lift the stick out, dock it and open the waste container. Up-to-45-day collection storage is a conditional claim. Check the level frequently while learning your own household's waste pattern rather than waiting a fixed number of days regardless of use.

The onboard nominal cup is 0.5 US quart, and charging is listed at six hours. The product table lists 14.2 pounds for this station package without isolating the carried stick, so it is not a verified assembled-stick carrying weight. The similarly styled standalone IA1241 has its own weight, but this review does not substitute that value. Confirm the precise carrying configuration if a numerical weight limit is essential to your purchase.

Exact tools and Luxe finishes

The IA3241 box lists a crevice tool and Pet Multi-Tool. These names do not establish a miniature motorized brush. The reviewed Luxe Oatstone IA3246IV and Sagewood IA3246GN listings use the same physical table and named tools as this Speed system. Treat those two as finish choices within this assessment, with the final retailer box checked before purchase. A decorative finish is not evidence of a stronger motor or different cleaning capability.

At the 2026-10-24 check, Shark's US page identified IA3246GN as a web-exclusive Sagewood offer but displayed a back-in-stock notice. Keep it in the finish comparison, while checking live availability and the included-tool list at purchase. If searching another retailer, use the full model rather than assuming an IA3241 listing names the Sagewood version: search Amazon for Shark PowerDetect Speed IA3246GN Sagewood.

Walnut IA3246BR has a different named tool

The Walnut listing retains the same Speed head, cup, station and published physical table, but its box names a Wide Upholstery Tool alongside the Crevice Tool. Choose that configuration explicitly if the wide furniture attachment matters; it is not the Pet Multi-Tool box described for Ice Blue, Oatstone and Sagewood. Neither supplied passive tool establishes motorized furniture agitation. The Walnut configuration is kept separate when checking included-tool requirements, even though its operating assessment shares this article.

The up-to-60-minute runtime is measured at the hand vacuum in Eco mode with a non-motorized tool. It is not a guaranteed hour on powered floors. HEPA and sealing features do not remove filter or base maintenance. This Speed package is most convincing when you want blue hard-floor visibility, a narrower mixed-floor route and less frequent manual cup emptying together. Choose the standalone version when a station will not fit, and compare larger PowerDetect packages when edge detection or their different tools matter more.
